Second Annual Awards Luncheon
Planned for Thursday, May 1, 2008
Last spring, the Anti-Prejudice Consortium held a very successful Annual Awards Luncheon. Awards were presented to Turner Broadcasting, Inc., Mr. Herman Russell and Ms. Vivian Chavez-Vega for their contributions in our community for displaying courage and leadership in their efforts to promote tolerance and fight prejudice. The Co-Chairs for the 2008 Awards Luncheon are Aarati Bandalamudi (ING) and Maria Balais (Troutman Sanders, LLP). The luncheon will take place at TWELVE –Atlantic Station on Thursday, May 1st.

Inaugural Awards Luncheon
Held on Thursday, May 1, 2008
On Thursday, April 26, 2007, we held our inaugural Awards Luncheon. The purpose of the luncheon was to honor those who have made a difference in our community.

Our Inspiration Award was presented to Herman Russell, Founder and Chairman of H.J. Russell & Company, pictured here with his grandson, Michael Russell, Jr.

Our Champion Award was presented to Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., represented by Mr. Steve Smith, Vice President of Government of Community Affairs, pictured here with Charlotte Wilen (left), winner of our Special Recognition Award for a lifetime devoted to promoting diversity in Atlanta, and Susana Chavez, president of the APC Board.

Our Courage Award, was presented to Viviana Chavez Vega (center), a freshman at the University of Georgia who worked throughout her high school years to transform the barriers of race into opportunities. She is pictured here with Susana Chavez and Judy Lynn Rice, president of the Junior League of Atlanta.
